What is artificial intelligence?

What is Artificial Intelligence? ai is an intelligent agent that uses computational intelligence, including knowledge, learning and planning, to solve problems and accomplish tasks for humans. ai, as a term, encompasses a broad range of activities, technologies, methods and implications. There are many facets of AI today, from sci-fi inspired plot lines in film to more mundane applications in the commercial world. Everything from driverless cars to Skype call interpretation uses AI.

Intelligent algorithms are getting better at automatically creating and upgrading software based on an analysis of the existing software code. This has led to tremendous growth in the software development industry which now employs over two and a half million people. With the growth in technology, both B2B and B2C sectors are going to be smart, be it companies, governments or just the society. Artificial intelligence is also growing and in case of any use of artificial intelligence by any person, person’s data is being used without the permission of the person. Hence the protection of data is paramount for every human being. The effects of AI on humans

Mired in controversy, there has been much debate about the implications of the rise of Artificial Intelligence. In a recent article in The Guardian, Adi Robertson claims that “AI could not only create a bleak future, it is also setting in motion a powerful social movement to ensure that it never happens.” Robertson believes that “the rise of automation and artificial intelligence, along with the consolidation of the tech giants and the consequent erosion of privacy rights, is provoking a populist backlash.” The article has generated much debate on both sides of the debate, and rightly so. According to The World Economic Forum, the rise of Artificial Intelligence is inevitable, and both Labour and the Conservatives recognize the potential of AI, and promised to invest in the technology.


A brief history of AI

In 1965, Marvin Minsky and Seymour Papert published a paper with the provocative title, “Learning by Example,” which described how machines could learn from their experiences without being explicitly programmed for the task at hand. Minsky was later to introduce the concept of what has come to be known as “universal grammar” (UG). UG is a cognitive style that organizes knowledge into a set of common rules, such that humans and other complex intelligent animals are able to discern many kinds of non-biological communication, such as the meaning of spoken words and the elements of the spoken sentence. In 1981, a group of roboticists and AI researchers published a paper describing a system that could recognize objects and identify them in a video.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

The definition of Artificial Intelligence is the set of technologies that allow machines to acquire, understand and interact with the world in ways similar to, and in some cases, more sophisticated than humans. The driving idea behind AI is that machines can learn tasks and perform tasks that require intelligence, creativity, and skill. AI can be considered a multi-faceted term, that is used interchangeably with: Computer Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Intelligence, and Artificial General Intelligence. Most of these terms and technology have evolved over time.


How does AI work?

There are two main purposes of machine intelligence. One is that it enables computers to do tasks that would be considered inane by humans. These include recognising voice patterns or handwriting, translating sentences or scanning an image and turning it into something useful. Another is that it allows computers to learn, from experience, how to complete a task by recognising the patterns that they are exposed to. It is this latter use of AI that has been explored and developed into something that can recognise the patterns of data for a particular task. This task can be that of an MRI or a heart condition test. How is it different from that of AI? Artificial Intelligence or AI is an evolution from the deep learning, based on artificial neural networks.
